A big thank you to all that attended the BCU 'Come & Try Day'. We had over 180 people on the water that day.

So who are Slea Paddlers?
We are a mix of experienced and young canoeists following a past time enjoyed by all.

As a "Clubmark" awarded club, we show that we provide the right environment which ensures the welfare of members and encourages everyone to enjoy our sport and stay involved throughout their lives.

As an accredited club we are recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they're choosing the right club for their young people, and by conforming to these standards our coaches have the relevant coaching awards from level 1 - 3 and have knowledge of and work within the remit of "Safe guarding and the protection of children". Regular sessions are held every Sunday morning during the summer at a variety of locations in the area. (Please check the events page to confirm where we will be). During the winter months we meet at a local pool. During these sessions members are taught the skills to be able to progress both in personal achievement and formally recognised qualifications through the BCU (British Canoe Union), Star and PaddlePower awards. However the emphasis is on having fun.

Other events include paddling through Grantham which has a number of small weirs which are ideal for the introduction of moving water to the less experienced members. We also travel around the country to places such as Ripon in North Yorkshire, Llangollen in Wales spending the day on the river getting used to moving water up to grade 2. The Washburn is another location for the more experienced paddler. The National White Water Centre in Nottingham, the White Water Centre in Northampton and a very playful weir in Newark on the River Trent are other locations we travel too.

Members also undertook the BCU's Three Lakes Challenge which is to paddle the largest lakes in England, Schotland & Wales with 2 members completing all three and many others completing two of the lakes.

None of our events could take place without the support of the parents of the younger members and other volunteers who do a lot of the ferrying around both with the equipment and paddlers who need to move cars to the end of a particular run.

The Club welcomes any new members into a friendly and challenging environment.
